John Greer is a software engineer and musician (of, mainly, the acoustic guitar) living in Atlanta, Georgia.

This is a personal blog about inputs and outputs of my creative life. You'll find causal writing about the craft of music, often talking through my own work (which you can find on Bandcamp). In addition to output, I'll write about the various inputs which is just about anything under the sun. Books, music, out-of-context quotes, plain ol' observations and notes. I've found that it's all grist for the mill.

A mission statement for this blog is taken from Lynda Barry's book "What It Is" which I often rely on to draw thoughts out of my mind and onto the page. And hopefully, eventually, captured in front of a microphone.

The thinking part of you is not the doing part of you or the experiencing part of you. The thinking part of you can tell you that a decision has been made but it’s not the part of you which decides things. This is why thinking is not the same as creating though the thinking part of us seems completely unaware of this
